On the 1st of October 2019 our colleagues from AZTI attended to the presentation of the representative of the DG Mare Mr. Maris Stulgis in the framework of the workshop “PLASTICS IN OUR OCEAN: a micro or macro challenge?”. The event held in Donostia-San Sebastian (Spain) and leaded by Nanogune focused in learning and propose actions to face the problem of plastics and microplastics in the ocean. Mr Stulgis metioned BLUENET as one of the EMFF Blue economy projects funded to fight marine litter under 2017 call. He also gave a detailed explanation on measures forseen on the ALDFG removal and re-use such as the development of harmonized standards relating circular design of fishing gears. Great news for a proper waste management of fishing gears!
